INDOCHINO LEADS NEW APPROACH TO CUSTOM APPAREL WITH FIRST WEST COAST STORE

Custom menswear company opening San Francisco Showroom on October 8

Indochino is continuing to pioneer its innovative approach to custom apparel with the opening of its first brick-and-mortar storefront on America’s West Coast. Offering a unique, technology-led experience and designed for the modern male shopper, the San Francisco Showroom will enable men to easily architect one-of-a-kind wardrobes of custom suits and shirts when it opens at 61 Post Street on Wednesday, October 8.

Indochino is enhancing the customer experience by developing a true omnichannel approach to its retail model. The showroom is a physical extension of the website, operating hand-in-hand with the online ordering process. Men build and order their suit in-store but, unlike a traditional retail outlet, the space itself has no inventory, with each garment made-to-measure and delivered four weeks later.

We don’t see ourselves as an ecommerce company, we just want to help men get dressed whenever and wherever they need us, explains Kyle Vucko, CEO and co-founder of Indochino. It’s exciting to think about where this approach could lead us and what it might mean for the future of apparel.

How the showroom concept works

Men book 30 minute one-on-one appointments to get measured, select fabrics and receive style advice before building custom suits and shirts. Customers are invited back for fittings, to update their measurement profile and even suit up their wedding party.

The in-store experience mirrors the online ordering process, utilizing innovative technology developed in-house by the brand. Indochino Style Guides use a custom, branded app to lead customers through the same suit-building process as those ordering via the website, creating a seamless shopping experience across all channels. Customer measurement profiles are easy to update, and future orders are quick to process in-store or at home – they simply choose their fabrics and customizations, and are done in minutes.

About the San Francisco Showroom

Located in the Mechanic’s Institute heritage building, built in 1909, the 3661-square-foot ground floor and mezzanine space boasts 28 feet of window frontage and 20 foot high ceilings. The prime street front location is ideally situated in the Financial District, just two blocks from Union Square and steps away from the Montgomery BART/Muni Station.

San Francisco is the world’s technology and innovation capital, which makes it an amazing place to open our first West Coast showroom, continues Vucko. We’re situated in a beautiful, historic building close to Union Square, the space itself is warm and welcoming with large swathes of luxurious fabrics on display, plus an array of sartorial shirting and accessory options. We can’t wait to present our unique custom tailoring experience to the city.

The San Francisco showroom opens exactly four weeks after the company’s US debut in New York, and will display Indochino’s full range of fabrics and accessories, including showroom-only exclusives and the new Winter 2014 Collection, which launched October 3.
